There was a time when companies could innovate within the boundaries of their own industries.
Transport companies focused on moving people.
Insurers focused on managing risk.
Technology companies built the platforms that connected everything together.
That model served us well for decades.
I'm not convinced it reflects how customers experience the world today.
Customers don't organise their lives by industry.
They organise their lives by moments.
Getting to work.
Heading to the airport.
Meeting family overseas.
Coming home safely.
Customers don't think about where transport ends, where insurance begins or where technology fits in. They simply expect every part of the experience to work together, seamlessly.
That's why I believe one of the biggest shifts over the next decade won't be driven by a single breakthrough technology.
It will be driven by collaboration.
Not collaboration for its own sake, but collaboration between organisations that bring different strengths to solve the same customer problem.
That was very much on my mind today as EFGH, SimplyGo and MSIG came together to formalise our collaboration.
The agreement itself is important.
What excites me even more is what it represents.
SimplyGo has played an important role in making everyday journeys more convenient for commuters across Singapore.
MSIG brings decades of insurance expertise and a deep understanding of helping individuals and businesses navigate uncertainty with confidence.
At EFGH, our role is different.
We believe technology has the greatest impact when it connects trusted organisations, enabling each partner to focus on what it does best while collectively delivering something that is greater than the sum of its parts.
No single organisation can build the future alone.
The most meaningful innovations increasingly happen at the intersection of industries, where complementary capabilities come together to create experiences that are simpler, more intuitive and more relevant to people's everyday lives.
That requires more than technology.
It requires trust.
Trust to share ideas.
Trust to challenge traditional ways of working.
Trust to recognise that long-term value is created not by owning every part of the customer journey, but by contributing meaningfully to it.
In many ways, I believe this is becoming the new competitive advantage.
The organisations that thrive won't necessarily be those with the biggest balance sheets or the most recognisable brands.
They'll be the ones that build the strongest ecosystems, bring together the right partners and remain relentlessly focused on solving real customer problems.
Today's signing marks the beginning of another partnership.
I hope it also reflects something bigger.
A belief that innovation doesn't happen because industries converge.
It happens because people do.
My sincere thanks to the teams at SimplyGo and MSIG for their trust, professionalism and openness throughout this journey.
I'm excited about what we can build together.
Not just in the months ahead, but in the years to come.
