Singapore-Africa venture to power a new generation of sustainable digital infrastructure for inclusive growth
SINGAPORE, 30 October 2025 – Embed Financial Group Holdings (EFGH), a Singapore-founded Finternet company, today announced a landmark joint venture with Racks Central Pte Ltd to design, build, and operate a network of Tier 3 green data centres across Africa.
The joint venture, to be known as EFGH Data Centres, marks a major step in EFGH’s strategy to connect Singapore’s governance standards with Africa’s fast-evolving digital economy. Combining EFGH’s Finternet infrastructure with Racks Central’s enterprise-grade engineering expertise, the venture will deliver secure, sustainable, and scalable data-centre capacity to power the continent’s growth in digital payments, AI, and financial inclusion.
Powering Africa’s Digital Backbone
Data centres are the silent engines behind every digital economy. They process the data that drives e-commerce, remittances, payments, and the AI systems shaping the future of work. Yet Africa, home to 1.5 billion people and the world’s youngest population, currently hosts less than one percent of global data-centre capacity.
EFGH Data Centres aims to change that. Each facility will meet Tier 3 standards for uptime and resilience, capable of operating 99.982 percent of the year without interruption. The data centres will be powered by renewable energy sources such as hydro and solar, reducing emissions, improving energy stability, and ensuring operations remain sustainable and future-ready.
Beyond infrastructure, this initiative will create high-skilled local jobs in engineering, data management, cybersecurity, and renewable-energy operations — building the human capital to sustain Africa’s digital decade.
A Sustainable Joint Venture
“This joint venture with Racks Central represents a defining moment for EFGH and our partners across Africa,” said Dennis Ng, Executive Chairman of EFGH. “Financial inclusion is impossible without reliable infrastructure. By combining Singapore’s reputation for trust and technology with Africa’s immense potential, we are building data centres that are not just functional, but transformative. The Finternet must be built on foundations that are green, transparent, and built to last.”
From Vision to Execution: Ghana Leads the Way
The first EFGH Data Centres are planned to break ground in Ghana in 2026, underpinned by EFGH’s joint venture with the country’s District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) - a national institution that allocates resources across all 261 districts to support development and decentralisation.
This collaboration gives EFGH a strong local foundation to deliver on its commitments. Through the DACF, EFGH Data Centres will have the necessary institutional support, regulatory alignment, and access to land and infrastructure to move quickly from planning to execution.
The DACF–EFGH Finternet joint venture is already laying the groundwork for Africa’s first digital financial infrastructure, connecting payments, insurance, and credit systems through a transparent, self-sustaining network. The data centres in Ghana will serve as the backbone of this Finternet, supporting real-time settlement, AI-driven analytics, and embedded-insurance platforms that reach millions of users.
Together, these efforts demonstrate that EFGH is not just talking about financial inclusion - it is building it.
